Baking Cupcakes!

So today's blog post is on baking cupcakes. This is coming out as a video on my channel on 22nd June!:-) I have always wanted to do a video just like this so that is what I decided to do.

So it was my brother's birthday on the 25th May and I baked him some cupcakes; they were just plain with icing and a few sprinkles but still, I thought I would share my recipe with you.

Ingredients:
- 200g Caster sugar
- 200g Softened butter
- 4 Eggs, beaten
- 200g Self- raising flour
- 1 tsp Baking powder
- 2 tbsp Milk (If needed, I don't usually need this)

FOR THE BUTTERCREAM ICING:
- 100g Butter, softened
- 140g Icing sugar
- 1 tsp Vanilla essence

Okay so to start get your butter and sugar in a bowl and cream them together with a wooden spoon. The method of this is to push the butter into the sugar until they come together and create a nice fluffy texture.

Then add in the 4 eggs and mix this together until there are no lumps in the mixture.

Next, add in your self- raising flour and baking powder and fold the flour into the mixture until it is smooth. The technique to doing this is to get your spoon underneath the mixture and fold the flour into the mix. This is so that the air can get in too because that will make your cakes nice and fluffy and light to eat. :-)

If you find your mixture needs a little milk then add it, however I never find this when I use this recipe.

Add your cake mixture into cases, preferably in a tray that has built in guides as to where you put the cases but if not, that's fine.

Then you're going to pop your cakes into the oven for aprox 20 minutes, until they are golden.

Whilst your cakes are in the oven, you are going to make your butter cream icing.
Get your butter and icing sugar and pop them into your mixer, as it is too hard and time consuming to do this part by hand. Then add in a teaspoon of vanilla essence, and some food colouring if you wish to. Then pop the icing in a bowl ready to ice the cakes when they cool down.

Then take your cakes out and let them cool down!

Ice them all over and dip them in a topping of your choice. Then you're done!

Then all that's left to do is eat them! :D

I hope you liked this type of blog post and make sure to look out for this video coming up on my YouTube soon!

See you on Monday! Lots of love x

TMI Tag!

So I know this is actually supposed to be a vlog, not a blog, but I didn't have time to film it and get all the editing done; also it would be on a very long waiting video list too and I really wanted to do this tag in particular! So I am just going to answer all the questions in the order I found on the internet. If you have any other tag ideas I could do on my YouTube or this Blog then make sure to tell me in these comments. :-)

1) what are you wearing?
I think this question is meaning what make and brand I am wearing. However the only 'brands' that I wear are Primark and New Look so I don't really think that counts. As I am writing this blog I am wearing my boyfriend's jacket, black jeans and blue pumps... All from New Look obviously.
2) Ever been in love?
I think a lot of people use the word 'love' when they don't actually mean it. I know I am in love currently. I think you know if it is real love.
3) Ever had a terrible breakup?
Yes. Not to go into too much detail, but my previous relationship did not end very well. It was a messy and dragged out break up. But now, I am glad it happened because I wouldn't be as happy as I am today if it hadn't happened. So if YOU (you know who you are) happen to read this, Thankyou. :-)
4) How tall are you?
I'm not completely sure how tall I am; I am pretty tall but I guess that isn't a measurement :3 haha.
5) How much do you weigh?
I don't really like to weigh myself because it just makes me get stressed over losing weight and stuff so I don't know how much I weigh, no.
6) Any tattoos?
Nope, and I probably won't ever get one.
7) Any piercings?
Yes. I have my ears pierced and I would maybe have my belly button pierced too when I'm older. :-)
8) OTP?
I don't really want to say people that know me because I don't want to embarrass anyone so I would have to say Gavin and Stacey all the way!!:'D
9) Favourite show?
I have 3 shows that I watch religiously: Coronation street, Nashville and The Big Bang Theory!
10) Favourite bands?
I like lots of bands: One Direction, The Script, Keane, Boyce Avenue and 5 Seconds Of Summer are my top 5.
11) Something you miss?
I really miss my cousins Lucy and Harry.
12) Favourite song?
At the moment I still can't get enough of Human by Christina Perri :')
13) How old are you?
14.
14) Zodiac sign?
I am a Scorpio.
15) Quality you look for in a partner?
They are funny and kind.
16) Favourite quote?
I'm going to change this to favourite quotes instead. I have two. (The names afterwards are not necessarily the person who said the quote, they are who I heard it off).
"You're only as sad as you want to be" ~ Cole Pollard
And...
"You will only achieve what you wish to achieve if you believe in what you can do and enjoy yourself" ~ Robert McNicol.
17) Favourite actor?
Justin Timberlake. Every time.
18) Favourite colour?
Turquoise.
19) Loud music or soft?
Soft. Depending on what mood I am.in, I prefer lighter music. I find I cannot relate to louder music.
20) Where do you go when you're sad?
There is a specific place I like to go and sit, and just think.
21) How long does it take you to shower?
AGES. If I am washing my hair it is even longer too; my longest shower has been around 20-25 minutes.
22) How long does it take you to get ready in the morning?
I DO take ages in the shower however I get ready quite quickly in the morning, when I am going to school. If it is a school morning I can get showered, ready (hair, make up, get dressed), had breaskfast, do my teeth and get out of the house in 50 minutes.
23) Ever been in a physical fight?
No. Not where I have fought back. I have been slapped before and kicked a few times but normally all the fights I have been in have been verbal and not big at all.
24) Turn on?
When a guy has a good sense of humour, knows his morals and is kind.
25) Turn off?
When guys pretend they don't cry and don't show their feelings- and also when they are violent. I hate violence.
26) The reason I joined YouTube?
Because I wanted to show everyone my music, my voice and also I always thought it would be hilarious to do all the fun videos on YouTube like people like Zoella, Pointless Blog, Marcus Butler, Jim Chapman and Tanya Burr do. It's so much fun :D
27) Fears?
Spiders, losing people that are close to me, dying.

ADVICE: Dealing With Stress!

So I figured that I would do another advice blog because I enjoyed writing the other one, I hope that people can read my blogs and take something from them. I get stressed a lot- mainly with little problems like friend fall outs and homework and revision when we have exams but it still feels like the end of the world at the time- so I hope this blog can help at least one of the people that are reading this!

When I have revision and exams at school I get incredibly stressed out; I find it very hard to sit down and focus on revision. I think especially because we're in more modern times now where we have even more distractions that take us away from revision. For example: I have my phone which has Facebook, Twitter, Texts and YouTube. If I am revising online on my laptop I also have all those distractions. So when you are revising make sure to put away your phones, laptops, iPads and any other devices that put you in contact with other people; set yourself a timer. Tell yourself you will do one hours revision with little 3-5 minute breaks every 20 minutes and then reward yourself with 20 minutes of your devices. That is the only way you will get anything done, otherwise I feel very stressed out. That is one way I deal with my stress.

Another way I like to conquer my stress is to go for a walk; walking is one of the ways I can de- stress. I have a special place I like to walk to where I sit and just think and reflect on everything which, when I get home afterwards, makes me feel much more relaxed and have a better view on life and what is stressing me out. Sometimes I take my music with me too- I go with my headphones and listen to my current favourite songs really loud which helps get my stress, and anger sometimes, out.

That brings me on to another good de-stresser. MUSIC! I know that a lot of people, maybe most, can turn to music when they feel lots of emotions; I know that whatever emotion I feel I listen to my music- when I am happy, sad, depressed, angry, stressed, excited, you name it. Music is there. I also listen to it exceptionally loud if I am stressed out especially because it really helps to just get my stress all out of my system. I can literally feel the weight go off my shoulders and then I can relax. Also linking into listening to music, I also play music and write music when I am stressed- the songs don't turn out to be amazing or anything but then my stress transfers from my body to the song. Then I can lock it away in there and get away from it completely. :-)

When I am very stressed often it is because I am sleep deprived. Gradually the time I get to bed is getting later and later now that I have my blog and YouTube as well. I find myself staying up until 2-3 am trying to get editing and preparing blog posts done. So if I have had a particularly bad day at school, or work, or just a bad day anywhere really, when I get home I close my curtains, get into my comfy clothes, put a spotify playlist on and get into bed and have a sleep. For as long as I need. But first, I make sure that I have nothing to get done because then my mind cannot switch off at all. I don't let myself care about how long I am sleeping for, I just sleep for as long as I need then sometimes go for a walk afterwards to feel really calm and relaxed. It really helps.

The last thing that I find to be an amazing de- stresser is to have a hot bath; maybe if you're a boy this might not appeal to you as much but try it. I have a hot bath, light lots of candles around the bathroom, turn the lights off and put my current favourite music on. I put a face mask on, maybe have a bath bomb and sometimes just lie there and relax and the hotness of the water makes me feel really relaxed and de- stresses me.

So they are my 5 main de- stressers for different situations. I hope one of these 5 can help you when you feel stressed. Make sure to tell me if you would like more ADVICE blogs; I hope they help in some way.

See you Monday! Lots of love, Emily xx

My Makeup!

WARNING!
Okay so if you are a boy you will probably want to just click off this post now because unless you're interested in the makeup I wear, and just makeup in general, then you will probably find this excruciatingly boring and would rather put pins through your eyes. But if not then feel free to carry on reading! :-)

So I filmed a video with my boyfriend, Cole, the other day and it was the 'Boyfriend Does My Make Up Challenge'. It was hilarious! However it made me get all my make up out that I own and I just wanted to show you all the make up products that I use to prepare for YouTube videos- I always wear a little more for videos I will confess! But, nevertheless this is how I achieve my standard 'clear skin' and 'cat eye' look. I am going to show you the products I use and then put a video up in the next few months; yes months, I have A LOT of videos already prepared!

So to start with, obviously after moisturizing, I use my foundation. I have several favourites but the one I am currently using is the MAYBELLINE Better Skin foundation which I find to give amazing but light coverage.

After applying foundation I will put concealer over any spots/ blemishes, red areas and under my eyes; when I am not filming I only wear concealer so obviously this is the start of my everyday make up routine here at concealer. I currently use the Collection2000 Lasting Perfection concealer or the No7 Match Made concealer- I also recommend the Rimmel Wake Me Up concealer, which I have but was in my Mum's room when taking these blog pictures!

To apply my foundation and concealer I use my Real Techniques Stippling brush:

Next comes the face powder after foundation and concealer: I use a slightly thicker face powder (REVLON Colour Stay powder) on days when I have bigger spots because it has better coverage but I usually just use the Rimmel Stay Matte powder.

To do my face powder I use my Real Techniques Duo Fiber face brush:

After face powder I then like to contour my face just a little bit; I usually just wear bronzer because I find, especially when just wearing concealer, my natural pink cheeks glow through my make up anyway so when I put blusher on it just looks too much although I like the look of bronzer. I use Estee Lauder's bronzer/ blusher palette. I do not know the name of it though, sorry!

To do my blusher and bronzer I use my Real Techniques Duo Fiber contour brush:

After contouring, I like to add some definition to my eyes. If I am not filming I will just stick with liquid eyeliner on top and mascara but if I am filming I like to add some eye shadow. I usually either use my Mum's Estee Lauder palette or my own set of eye shadows which was actually dirt cheap but the colours stay on for AGES!.. It was a bargain :D

To do my eye make up I use my Real Techniques Duo Fiber eye brush:

After my eyeliner I usually use my liquid eyeliner by Loreal (The Super Liner BLOCKBUSTER liquid liner) or if I am using pencil just the SEVENTEEN Soft Smudge Eye Kohl pencil.

After eyeliner I finish my eye make up with my mascara. I have been trying out the MAYBELLINE mascaras and I have to say I LOVE THEM ALL! But this one has to be my absolute all time favourite! The Rocket mascara. BUY IT AND TRY IT, I say to you all.

Then to finish the look I finish with a lipstick or a lipgloss... usually just a baby lips at the moment! But I have chosen my 4 favourite lip products of this month.

I hope you enjoyed this type of blog post! Let me know in the comments of this blog if you did and what your all time favourite make up product yours is.

See you soon!
Lots of love, Emily x

Good Blogger Or Not?

Okay so I have only had this blog for 3 months or so and I have never stopped to actually think about whether I am a good blogger. Like do people actually enjoy reading my blog posts? Do I update it often enough? Well I mean, people must like reading the blogs because the page views are getting higher and higher each blog post but I suppose I want to make sure that those page views stay how they are and keep getting higher; I would love for more and more people to actually read my blog... And enjoy it!:-)

I have actually found it quite a challenge sticking to my timetable for my blogs and YouTube videos! You will have to read the blog post titled 'My Timetable' or something like that to see what I am on about, but basically I made a promise to upload YouTube videos every other week but that has now changed to every week alternating between music videos and fun talky videos so I have found that pretty hard with all the hours of editing you need to put in to keeping that up. Also I promised that i would upload a blog post on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturday's at 9pm; now that doesn't sound too challenging but trust me: when trying to get editing, homework and family stuff done too it can become pretty challenging. Nevertheless though I have kept to my word, just about. ;-)

I think I am going to start really varying my blog posts though. So I will post a new blog on Saturday probably saying what the plans are to mix up the content of these blogs a bit more.

So one last thing: I want to start adding more pictures to my blog posts because i really feel that is a good way to keep people entertained when they come to my blog. Just seeing a load of writing can put people off... Me included!

Let me know in the comments if you think I am a good blogger and tell me anything I could improve on or what you would like to read about on my blog posts!

See you on Saturday!:-) xx

Recording, filming AND blogging can get tiring sometimes!

Okay so this week I was given some recording equipment for 2 weeks; I only have it for 2 weeks so I am trying to cram in as much recording as I possibly can but it does prove to be difficult with a blog, YouTube channel, editing and homework to battle also!

So I have a timetable that I am trying to stick to this week which I have set myself on my google calender. I am also filming 2 collaborations this week: one with my boyfriend, Cole, and one with my good friend Brad who also has a YouTube channel (Bradbro856)! Next week I am also doing some recording with a friend of mine who has an absolutely stunning voice and I cannot wait for you to hear, Eliza. So yeah, I am keeping very busy with all that.

Another thing keeping me busy is editing; I cannot believe just how much time and effort goes into editing the videos! My biggest problem is getting through all the footage I have. My video that went up on Sunday (The Chummy Challenge with my friend Daisy) took 6 hours to edit, the video and the bloopers video. I have realised you have to be inctedibly dedicated to your channel if you have one. The uploading of the two videos, which was about 22 minutes of video all together, took around 5-6 hours to upload. If anyone knows a trick to uploading videos quicker to YouTube please tell me because it would be of great use!:-)

Also, just an update on the recording of broken angel, I have recorded the verse and chorus at school and I am hoping to get the rest done this week and next week; it has been quite a long process but I finally feel like I am getting somewhere with it. I will keep updating you all with its progress though. :)

So this blog post was just a little update on everything I am working on for you guys at the moment. I hope you enjoyed this blog post and didn't get too bored! If you have read this far, comment your favourite sport in the comments on the blog ;-)
I will see you on Thursday, lots of love x <33

How Important Friends Are!

Okay so the number one thing in my life that I focus on, other than school and family obviously, is my friends. Now let me tell you, as a girl, I have friends but I always fall out with a lot of them. Girly just are a lot... how can I put this lightly... bitchier than boys- it's true. I hate fall outs, I really do, but I think that is just teenage girls for you.

Nevertheless, I still love them. Each and every one of them. My friends mean the world to me and so I suppose that is why I wanted to write this blog. Not just to say thank you to all of then for being so lovely but to make sure that everyone who reads these blogs realises how important friends are. How much of an impact they are on how you are in your life. How you feel and your mood.

Having a best friend is amazing. I have 2 best friends and then lots of really close friends too. I have a lot of friends who I can trust really and that is great! I love the way that with best friends you can tell them literally anything. If you are someone that maybe struggles with making friends then don't worry about 'how many friends you have' or 'who is popular', worry about who makes YOU  happy; the key to being happy and having friends is to surround yourself around people that make you happy, people you can have fun with and people who love you for who you are- don't try to change just to fit in to a certain friend group.

I have a range of different friends: some of them I have known all my life, some of them I have only just recently become friends with but I love them all and I want them all to know how thankful I am for them!:')

So I know this was a random blog post but I wasn't too sure what to write about!:):)

ADVICE: Having self confidence!

So I am someone that does not have a lot of self confidence at all. I don't particularly rate myself and I don't really think I am good enough. I have got better though since I started putting my music onto YouTube and writing blog posts and just being myself a little more. I stopped wearing foundation which for some of you might just seem a stupid pointless thing but it was HUGE for me. I just wear concealer now for my spots and my skin looks fine! But I used to be obsessed with wearing foundation... but it just made my spots and skin even worse! I only wear it for YouTube videos if my skin looks pale or patchy now. And I am proud of that. And it was YouTube and watching YouTubers who inspired me with videos about self confidence to not cover up me.

I have never had self confidence. In school if there is something I feel like I want to do I will only do it if one of my friends is doing it- if they aren't then I just don't do it. And in that respect I have missed out on a lot of opportunities just because I'm 'scared' to do things on my own. I don't even like going to the toilet on my own at school... It's a bit pathetic really! I'm sure it's not just me that is like this- but we need to all just be ourselves, not be afraid of who/what we are and just do what makes us happy.

Instead of our focus being 'what people will think of us' it should be 'what makes us happy'. I need to learn to do what makes me happy. I will be honest with you all- and I'm not proud of it- but yesterday I missed a big oppertunity I shouldn't have. It was the day to record Broken Angel. I had been preparing for ages but I just got so nervous in the afternoon that somehow my head persuaded itself that I wasn't good enough and that I would mess it up... so I went home and shut myself away and hid away from my fears. NEVER DO THAT. I am not going to do that again. I am terrified, yes, but I am going to just do it and try my best. It's my song, no one knows it better than me, the lyrics, the piano, the real meaning. No one.

Always believe in yourself and never give up. This blog post has mostly been about me, rather than giving advice to you- but I hope you can take in what I did say there and learn from my mistakes, because I know I am learning from my mistakes!

I will see you on Saturday for a new blog post, lots of love!! Xx

How to play: Jason Mraz- I'm Yours on UKULELE!

So first of all, I know that this is kind of a 'tutorial' on how to play Jason Mraz- I'm Yours on the ukulele and I know that tutorials are best as videos but I don't have the time right now to film it; therefore for now I am putting it on my blog however in the next month I will upload a tutorial video onto my YouTube demonstrating how to play it and I will talk you through it properly then. :-)

So just to start off- if you are completely new to the ukulele (or just need reminding)- there are 4 strings on a ukulele, going from the top they are called G,C,E and A. You can remember the string names as Good Children Eat Apples (that's how I remember them!) and your fingers are named 1,2,3 and 4. This is not including your thumb. Another thing you might need to know if you are a beginner is that the little bars that seperate down the ukulele neck (where the strings are) are called frets, which I will refer to! Also if you don't know, a chord is when you play more than one note on the ukulele- and on any instrument for that matter. So when I refer to a chord that is what I mean (however we do have 2 chords in this song which are only 1 note chords, so it is incredibly easy for beginners to pick up!). To play a chord you just play all the strings at once and strum downwards.

For the first chord you are going to play you are going to put your 3rd finger onto the A string (the 4th string down); you will place it 3 frets across, like the picture shows. Think of this picture as the ukulele neck (where the strings go across it) and imagine that is the ukulele, if you then copy where to put your fingers according to where the dots are you should be fine.

Then for the second chord (and don't be scared about this one, even though it looks more difficult it is really easy once you get the hang of it) you are going to place your 2nd finger on the 2nd fret of the A string (the 4th string down), your 3rd finger on the 3rd fret of the E string (the 3rd string down) and your 1st finger on the 2nd fret of the C string (the 2nd string down). When your fingers are in place you will notice that your fingers make a triangle shape- this is how you will know you're doing it right. If you can follow all that I just said then you will learn this in no time!:))

Next for the third chord you are going to place your 2nd finger on the 2nd fret of the G string (the 1st string downwards).

And for the last chord you will need to play this song you need to place your 1st finger on the 1st fret of the E string (the 2nd string down) and your 2nd finger on the 2nd fret of the G string (the 1st string downwards).

Now to play this song you are going to strum each chord for 4 seconds each. So I will demonstrate this with the lyrics.

C
Well you done done me and you bet I felt it
G
I tried to be chill but you're so hot that I melted
Am
I fell right through the cracks,
F
now I'm trying to get back

To play along at first you can just play each chord once every 4 beats (at the start of each new line of lyrics written above). It is very easy to work out as you play. Make sure you know the lyrics first though if you are planning to sing along, which I would recommend even if its just to yourself. It will help you with timings!

I really hope this has been a helpful blog post. If it hasn't let me know and tell me why then I can improve in the future!

Lots of love Emily x :-)

Everything Good Takes Time!

So I wasn't sure about this title: 'Everything Good Takes Time'. But thinking about it more I think it's a great title because it is really true for everything in life. You have to work for everything in life, it doesn't just come to you... it takes time. This really came into my head because in total today I have taken about 6-8 hours to prepare my YouTube video for tomorrow. I was up until half 12 last night (or this morning for those of you who might feel that necessary to point out!) just learning the piano part that I was supposed to do for my cover video... however by this morning, after another hour of practice, I decided to just play it safe and do a video of my recent compositions and ask for some more opinions, ideas and improvements. So that is what you will be expecting tomorrow. This is just a small clue for tomorrow (And no, it's not been uploaded yet: it is private until tomorrow at 8pm).

So as you can see from the screenshot above, we need to get some more views on the 'Please Don't Feel That Way' video. So if you're reading this please help me by sharing my video or YouTube channel on your social media's (Facebook, Twitter etc). It would be much appreciated. :-)

This morning I got up at 8.30 and started filming but once I realised that the cover sounded horrendous, because I had to keep stopping to remind myself of the lyrics, I decided to play it safe. So I decided to just do my own compositions (I hope you like them by the way!). My camera set this morning consisted of my piano, about 50 random pieces of paper stuck up around the room (with lyrics and chords for me to look at and remind me while I was filming), 10 books to stand up the camera, the iPad (for the camera) and an ironing board. Yes, you heard me right, an IRONING BOARD! I stood up the camera on our ironing board with about 10 books surrounding it to stand it up; you're all very lucky that you only see the tidy part of my bedroom when I am filming because the rest somehow gets like a bombsite! And I hate that, I always have a very clean and tidy room, in fact I'm very OCD about my room being tidy and organised, as all my friends will know!

I was quite excited today because I verified my YouTube account and realised that I can now have a watermark (my YouTube picture in the corner of every video), videos longer than 15 minutes, live streams and more! That made me very excited. I also got my YouTube account Partner Verified, which means I allow Google to put ads on or around my videos to earn money for Google which is split between them and me.. apparently. I'll have to let you know if anything actually comes of that! It's quite exciting though! As you can probably tell from my constant, rather obsessive, use of EXCLAMATION MARKS!!

I wanted to relate all the above to the title because it takes time to achieve anything good. Whether it is a YouTube channel, good grades in school, a strong relationship/ friendship, etc. I think it is an important thing to remember throughout life.

I'm quite excited for my YouTube video to go up tomorrow night because it has a little twist on it: it has me speaking at the end but I also added an End Card to my video, which is basically a card at the end of the video which has links to other recent videos, and just informs you about where you can find me (social media etc.). It looks really professional... for me... I'm quite proud of it. :D I am going to do the TMI Tag (Too Much Information) next Sunday I think, in between my next music video which will be going up on the 25th of this month; I think it would be good to have a more chatty video in between. A good friend told me it's very sensible to be as frequent with your YouTube videos as possible because your SUBSCRIBERS will be more loyal if you keep to your word... and more.

I'm going to end this blog here. It's been a pleasure talking to you lovelies! If you have read this far tell me your favourite ice cream topping! (Think I am going to make this a regular thing just to see who reads the blogs!)

Lots of love, Emily <3 x

Playing Instruments!

So this blog post is just a random idea that popped into my head about 20 seconds before writing it: I wanted to write about the instruments I play. I currently play 3 instruments. Guitar, piano and ukulele; I'm going to write a paragraph about each instrument and why you should play it. Also, I do want to play more instruments but i just don't have the time to start learning a new one yet.

GUITAR: The guitar was the first instrument I decided I wanted to play. I have played it for seven years now, nearly eight, and I love it so much. I am currently on a payment plan to pay off my new guitar which I should hopefully get by my birthday in November. It is a Tanglewood Nashville IV! I'm very excited for when I finally get it!:'') I would recommend playing guitar to anyone, the feeling you get when you play a song and sing along to it is amazing- it gives you such a buzz and I love it so much, with a passion. I also love writing and playing songs on the guitar, in the next few videos I will do a guitar cover hopefully... But I would rather wait until I get my good guitar to do a video with it. But if you've not got a guitar or you don't play, you're missing out big time!

PIANO: Piano, piano, piano. What can I say about piano!? Lots of course! Obviously the piano is the only instrument that you have all seen me play on, on my youtube. I find it much easier to learn piano songs quickly, and to write piano songs quickly. Guitar takes a lot more time I find. The piano really is a beautiful instrument which you can express so much emotion on. I love playing songs where I play a riff and just the chords which are my backing to singing the song, but I also love playing classical pieces, like Yiruma (a famous pianist), because classical pieces can also create so much emotion. I have an electric KAWAI piano which I prefer to acoustic pianos sometimes because of the effects you can create on the piano, it's so easy. However acoustic pianos are beautiful. Like in Please Don't Feel That Way (my original song if you didn't know) I use strings on the piano to back it up and give it a more angelic feel. Which I think I create successfully. I have been playing the piano for about five years, and have been having lessons for nearly three. I would recommend piano to anyone because of how easy it is to pick it up, it really is. It's one of the easiest instruments to pick up quickly in my opinion... So is the other instrument which I am going to move onto... The ukulele.

UKULELE: I have only owned my ukulele since November 2013 and honestly, I haven't picked it up much since I got it. However, the times I have actually taken time to sit down and play it and learn something on YouTube I have found it so easy! I think that is definitely down to having played the guitar for seven years but it is a simple instrument. It's really cute too, and easy to take around places.  They're pretty cheap, starting at £30 for a decent starter one and they're a nice size to store if you don't have a lot of room. I really enjoy it. I don't have lessons for it but I don't need them, I have guitar lessons and I have YouTube for ukulele lessons really. I don't need ukulele lessons because it's that simple to figure out. So this one, out of the three instruments I play, is definitely the instrument I wouldn't recommend that everyone should try out because of it's simplicity.

So I know this isn't the longest blog post I have done but I hope this helps you in some way. If there is anything else you would like adding to or telling about my instruments more then feel free to say so in the comments, I always read them! And make sure to keep giving me suggestions for fufutre blog posts, and make sure to check out my youtube too, there is currently 3 videos up on there, and another one coming this Sunday at 8pm.

If any of you have read this far then comment your favourite colour!;);)

See you Satuday at 9pm!:-)

Lots of love!:-)<33 x

ADVICE: How to write a successful song!

Okay so I wasn't really sure of what to write about in today's post, now that I am going to be writing posts 3 times a week I have been wracking my brain for more ideas of what to write about; so obviously I went to my trusty friends on Facebook, of which only one actually commented, and I was suggested the idea of an advice blog on how to write successful songs... so that's what I'm going to do! Now don't get me wrong, I'm no expert in writing songs... I am only 14 and my skills at song writing are progressing every day, and I'm not a professional songwriter- but I want to be. So all this advice isn't saying that this is what you have to do to be able to write songs it's more what I do to write my songs- so you don't have to do what I do at all! However this is my advice:

1) Think of a story:
I, personally, think this is the number one best advice I can give you (of my knowledge). Think of what story is going to be behind your song; you need to know what the song is going to be about and the best way to do that is think of a story. I like to sometimes write out a story board, or a load of scribbley words it usually turns into, and think about my characters and what they're feeling and what not. Just so that I know a bit about the background of my song. I find that if I come up with a story and a bit about my characters I find it much easier to pick out the right lyrics to fit the song so that when I explain the story behind the song to others, they can relate to it. Like in Broken Angel, my first song I put onto YouTube, that had a pretty deep story behind it, and that was what helped me come up with all the lyrics. If you read my blog post titled 'My First Song' (it's the first blog post I wrote) then it explains my song Broken Angel and the story. :-)

2) keep a notebook dedicated to just song ideas:
I like to keep a notebook specially for writing song ideas in. Even if it's just a title idea or if it's a whole line of a song, or a whole song, it doesn't matter. I have come up with song ideas at school before and had to write them down: I used to just quickly run and write a song idea on the first bit of paper I could find but it's so much easier to have a notebook with you. I also record little voice notes on my phone too when I come up with a good idea I don't want to forget. I've mentioned it in previous blog posts before but if you were to go through my phone's voice notes you will hear little bits of songs recorded. Piano, guitar and vocal. It really does help! This is my song book: it says 'No Idea Is Too Crazy Write It Down'... I love it because it reminds me that no song is a bad one when I go into the book. Something like this is so inspiring, it really is. You can make them yourself too! I might do a blog or YouTube video where I make some of these and do some giveaways! :-) Comment down below your favourite food to let me know you would be in on this idea :D

3) Write lyrics that you want to write:
Don't try to write a song that will 'please everyone else', you're writing songs that you want to. Don't do it because you think others might like it more if you do it differently or that it might be more popular if you don't write that part or anything like that. It's your song, it's your story, don't change your story to suit others.

4) Have a catchy chorus:
I know this could kind of contradict what I just said in point 3 but if you do want others to not necessarily like your song more but remember it more then make sure your chorus will stick in their mind. That could mean making it catchy, having a powerful message in the chorus or just doing something in your chorus or even bride that makes it stick in people's minds.

5) Have self- confidence:
Believe in yourself! You're not going to write a good song if you go into it thinking that it won't be good enough. You need to believe that it will be good enough and that people will be able to relate to it. The most important thing is that you don't let anyone knock you back. There is no such thing as a 'bad song'; there is such thing as an opinion though. And not everyone will like the song you write, but people will like it too.

Just remember... There is no such thing as a 'bad song'.... Good luck if you're wanting to write a song!:-)

I don't really know how to end this blog... So I will be back on Thursday night at 9pm!:-)

Lots of love xx:-) <3

My Timetable and 'Please Don't Feel That Way' lyrics!

My Timetable

So what I mean by 'My Timetable' is when I am going to be uploading videos and when I am going to be doing blog posts; this is going to be my timetable which I am going to try my best to stick to, so I'm sharing it with you all so you can help keep my organised and right! Obviously if there is a serious reason why I can't post something then I won't but I will write a quick blog update to let you know why and when it will be uploaded instead. :-)

So I want to achieve doing at least 3 blog posts a week. They are not necessarily going to all be about music. I want to write about my music, obviously, but I also want to write about make- up, hair tutorials with pictures, advice, 'how to' blog posts on lots of different things, my healthy eating recipes, pictures of days out that I want to share with you all... So it will be a range of posts, but they will be posted 3 times a week: Monday's, Thursday's and Saturday's at 9pm- and  will try my hardest to stick to that schedule.

For my YouTube timetable I am going to be posting a video once a fortnight. It will be uploaded on a Sunday evening at 8pm. Sometimes I might want to do an extra video, but if I ever do that then it will be mentioned on the closest blog post to the video, and my Facebook, and my Twitter. I will probably start uploading more frequently on YouTube in the future but for now I am just setting myself a realistic goal because I know, and if you are friends with me you'll also know, that I am very good at talking and setting myself goals... whether I actually follow through on them is a different story!

So this is the end of my blog post for today, I know some of you will say 'It's Sunday, why are you writing a blog post at 10 in the morning...' and I completely agree, my slight OCD is also agreeing with you ( I don't actually have OCD, but I think we all have our moments!) however... well there isn't really a however. It's not really optional. And when you're reading this part of the blog you will have already read the main part of the blog I wanted you to read! So ha!.... I have also realised that I use way to many exclamation marks. If you look back through the blogs (and give me some more page views! :D ) then you'll see that I have stopped using as many, but I really find it difficult. I think it's because I am a happy and enthusiastic person and so I just love using exclamation marks to make sure that my happiness comes across!!!!!!!

Thanks for reading this blog, and yes, I have stopped doing the 'what has made me happy','inspired' and 'what song i have been listening to today' stuff, because I can't be bothered- does anyone even read that far down?! If you are still reading this bit of the blog, prove it and give me a comment down below telling me your favourite movie lets say... :P

I'm going to end this now by giving you the 'Please Don't Feel That Way' lyrics so you can go and watch the video again (and give me another view!) and sing along (the link to the video will be at the bottom). TALK TO YOU MONDAY!:-) .... (there I go again with the exclamation marks!... And again...)

Lots of love, Emily :-) x

'Please Don't Feel That Way' Lyrics

Please don't feel like you are any less than perfect,
And don't feel like you, you wanna be someone else.
Why does everyone feel like this, when they're beautiful,
I think it's time that you all know...

Don't change for anyone else,
Be the one that you really are yourself.
Don't change for anyone else,
Be the one that you really are yourself.
Please don't feel that way, please don't feel that way...

Once upon a time you wouldn't have even cared,
But now, you won't even go out, without trying to be perfect.
Please don't feel that way,
Please don't feel that way...

Don't change for anyone else,
Be the one that you really are yourself.
Don't change for anyone else,
Be the one that you really are yourself.
Please don't feel that way, please don't feel that way...

Please don't feel that way, I want you to stay,
Exactly how you are, exactly who you are,
Because you're beautiful.
Don't ever change, or take a blame,
For being who you are because you're perfect.

Don't change for anyone else,
Be the one that you really are yourself.
Don't change for anyone else,
Be the one that you really are yourself.

Please don't feel that way, I don't want you to change,

Please don't feel that way, because you're perfect in every way...
