THE HUNGER GAMES: Book And Film Review One!

Okay so this blog post is a little different to what I have done before; I decided to try out doing some book reviews... to let you guys that read my blog posts which books I have been reading, what I like about them and whether I would recommend them to all of you. This is the first review of three I will be doing on The Hunger Games trilogy, books and the films that are out. This post is a review of the first book AND the first film. Make sure you guys let me know if you like this type of blog post as I would love to do it again!:-)

BOOK REVIEW
Book: The Hunger Games

Author: Suzanne Collins

What I liked about the book: The book is split into 3 different Parts; it has chapters in between but it has 3 main chapters (if you like) which are the 3 main parts that happen in the story. I liked this aspect of the book because it really worked well for me and kept my mind stimulated.

The chapter sizes were also good sizes- because I am quite OCD I will not put down a book unless I have read to a chapter. Sometimes when I am lying in bed reading at night my eyes will start to droop if I am tired but I will make myself carry on reading to the end of the chapter. I have read some books which have really long chapters, or no chapters, and this really does not work for me and doesn't keep me entertained and it really effects my OCD!

The actual book was an amazing and exciting read. The emotive language, ghastly adjectives and brilliant imagery kept my mind very stimulated and excited throughout; I actually read this book in 5 days I loved it that much- I could not put it down. I was reading for hours at night, in the car when we went out places, even if it was just one chapter, and I could not stop talking about the book too. Honestly, I drove my Mum insane telling her every little new thing that was happening in the book, and that was a lot. The book created a lot of emotions for me: I cried a few times in the book however the main parts where I could not stop the tears and utter sadness for a character was when Rue died and Katniss put flowers over her and sung her a lullaby as she went to sleep for the last time. I cried my eyes out. I still cry every time I watch that scene in the movie too! It was a beautifully written scene in my eyes, and Suzanne Collins really outdid herself with that. The 2nd part in the book where I also cried was right at the very end where Katniss told Peeta that she had basically 'gone along with loving him for the cameras'. This probably isn't a part where most people cried but I really empathised with his disappointment and it made me cry just because I wanted Katniss and Peeta to be together so bad. (SPOILER ALERT!: This is why I was very satisfied in Mockingjay!)

I didn't find the film as good as the book, I know everyone says this but I really did not! I think that if you are going to watch the movie, reading the book first would be a good idea. There were some beautifully created moments however.

If you would like me to build on anything anymore, let me know in the comments down below!:-)

See you Saturday! Xo's.
